After a Compassion in World Farming undercover investigation exposed some inhumane treatment of pigs in Europe (you can see more here), a petition they raised was signed by almost half a million people.
They want to help protect pigs from illegal cruelty (there are over 500 million pigs worldwide in factory farms)but compliance with the EU Pigs Directive has been lacking.
